But here's the deal: her bedroom view was a direct peek into another apartment building. So, I came up with a tried and true genius solution – privacy film! Not only does it keep prying eyes out, but it still lets that glorious sunlight stream in. ☀️ And you know what that means – time for some bedroom plant therapy she's been craving for ages. 🪴 Now, I didn't want her to go full-on hermit mode, so I only installed the privacy film to the lower part of the window in her home office/craft/workout space. 🏋🏾‍♀️ That way, she can get creative and sweaty without feeling like she's on display. It was all about finding that perfect balance between privacy and that oh-so-craved natural light. 🩷 One of the highlights of the @blackgirlswhoor 🩷 One of the highlights of the @blackgirlswhoorganize BGWOR3 retreat was an eye-opening talk on breast health, self-examination, and cancer awareness, from Nurse Keia Dykes. In our incredible swag bags, we were provided with a gem – the 'Daisy Wheel.' 🌼 It's an interactive, safe, and super easy tool that guides you through the 8 steps for a proper breast self-exam: 1️⃣🌸 BSE - Breast Self Exam. Think as your breast as a Daisy. 2️⃣🌸 Look at your breasts in the mirror -- hands on hips -- tighten your chest. Anything weird? Discharge, puckering, dimpling? 3️⃣🌸 Lying down, firmly press 3 fingers on your breast in a circular motion. Examine each petal. 4️⃣🌸 Apply 3 different levels of pressure -- light, medium, firm -- with your finger pads to check your breast tissue. 5️⃣🌸 Use each pressure level (L, M, F) on each "petal" before moving to the next. 6️⃣ 🌸 Start by your armpit and move down to just below your breast, using the same circular motion in an up & down pattern, covering your whole breast. (Repeat on other breast.) 7️⃣🌸 Sitting or standing -- raise your arm slightly and use the same circular motions with your finger pads to examine your underarm. (Standing in the shower is a great place to do this!) 8️⃣🌸 Did you see or feel something that worries you? Don't be embarrassed -- tell your mom, dad, sister, grandma, school nurse, reached, your BFF!
